Sometimes we bring these times of wilderness upon ourselves by sinning, but if we have no sin to confess then we need to earnestly cry out and ask God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen us and protect us during these times of testing.įor many, the devil, or Satan is a little red creature with a pointy tail and a pitchfork, depicted as a cartoon character. Every so often these are for a period of long and difficult times of testing and wrestling with Satan and with ourselves. Whilst we do experience these times, we also experience times of being led into the ‘wilderness’. The ideal way of living would be to always be led ‘beside still waters’, as in Psalm 23 verse 2. No one is immune from Satan’s temptation, not you, not me and not even Jesus. The devil tempted Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and he has been tempting Christians and non-Christians alike ever since. ReflectionĪs Christians we all face temptations, none of us are exempt. When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
